URE Centro Gutenberg – 7 questions with the innovation-forward Spanish fertility clinic

Considering fertility treatment abroad? We speak to the team at URE Centro Gutenberg in Málaga about IVF in Spain, success rates, patient care and why so many UK couples choose treatment there.
URE Centro Gutenberg

I’ve been there, with more than one team, and doctor. You’ve been told that conceiving naturally may not be possible, and that fertility treatment – perhaps IVF – is now your path forward.

Alongside the shock and uncertainty, a whole new set of questions appears. How do you choose a fertility clinic, ultimately? What should you look for in a specialist? Should you go abroad? Where is the best treatment, right now?

If you’re anything like the women and couples we speak to every day, you don’t want to feel like just another patient on a busy schedule. You want to feel seen, supported and understood, guided by people who bring empathy and genuine care to what can otherwise feel like an overwhelming process. Alongside, of course, world-leading expertise.

With that in mind, we’re delighted to introduce leading Spanish fertility clinic, URE Centro Gutenberg.

A family-run clinic based in Málaga, URE Centro Gutenberg has built its reputation around truly personalised care. Alongside exceptional clinical expertise and strong IVF success rates, their team places real emphasis on patient wellbeing, ensuring every person who walks through their doors feels supported, informed and cared for throughout the journey.

Let’s introduce URE Centro Gutenberg

URE was established in Málaga in 1987. By 1989, with a team of more than twenty fertility specialists, we were able to assist in the very first IVF pregnancy in the Málaga province, which resulted in the birth of a baby girl – Lorena.

Since Lorena was born, the Gutenberg Centre Reproduction Unit has grown into the leading specialist fertility clinic in the province of Málaga, having carried out the highest number of assisted reproduction treatments in the region.

According to data from the Spanish Fertility Society, this places us among Spain’s leading fertility clinics for innovation and expertise.

What sets you apart from other fertility clinics?

With us, you benefit from more than 30 years of experience.

We perform a full range of assisted reproductive technologies, from simpler treatments such as artificial insemination (IUI) to more advanced procedures including in vitro fertilization, preimplantation genetic diagnosis and egg donation.

We continually invest in cutting-edge technology to ensure we remain up to date with the latest techniques that can help you achieve your goal of parenthood.

Over the years, we’ve built the trust of many women and couples navigating infertility.

We’ve supported them in achieving their family, thanks to the diagnostic and therapeutic methods, and the assisted reproductive technologies, carried out in our clinic.

Why Málaga, for fertility treatment?

There are many reasons why international patients are drawn to Spain – and specifically – Málaga. It’s home to prestigious fertility clinics, exceptional treatment and highly experienced doctors, as well as competitive costs.

Spanish law is also more permissive than in some other countries. For example, sperm and egg donation in Spain are anonymous. Meanwhile in the UK, there has been a decline in voluntary donors and waiting lists are often longer.

Almost all techniques are permitted here in Spain, with the exception of commercial surrogacy and gender selection. Around 40,000 babies are born in our country each year through assisted reproduction techniques, and between 10,000 and 15,000 couples travel here annually in search of treatment. They come from a wide range of countries, although the majority are from the UK.

And of course, alongside these factors, Málaga offers the sea, sunshine, food, culture and a wide variety of accommodation, all of which make it a wonderful destination.

Going abroad – how can we get started?

We understand how important the decision is to travel abroad for assisted reproduction treatment. And for that reason, we believe in the value of a dedicated international department offering patient support 365 days a year.

Our fertility clinic has a team exclusively focused on international patients, and we speak several languages.

The International Team offers support from the very first moment you make contact, right through to the end of your fertility treatment. They stay in close contact throughout the process and can help with anything you might need, from sorting out your visa and finding accommodation to providing prescriptions for medication.

Overall, our goal is to ensure that language barriers or travelling to Spain never become obstacles. We want your stay to be as comfortable and as smooth as possible.
