- Smoking
- Anabolic steroids
- Recreational testosterone use
Additional contributors include:
- Excessive alcohol intake
- Obesity
- Poor sleep
- Chronic heat exposure
- Certain occupational and environmental exposures
- Poorly controlled medical conditions
He also encourages men to think about testicular temperature.
Because sperm develop best at slightly cooler temperatures, limiting prolonged heat exposure where practical may be helpful. That includes avoiding extended hot tub use, placing laptops directly on your lap, and using heated car seats for long periods.
