Over to Sophie…

Hello, it’s Sophie from The Fertility Show, back to tell you a little more about what to expect from this year’s Show. If you haven’t heard, the next Fertility Show is coming to you live from Olympia London on the 7th and 8th May 2022.

We cannot wait to welcome you back to our first live Show since 2019.

Our mission?

To make sure everyone embarking on a new or ongoing fertility journey gets the best advice, support and information to equip you for your road to your family. There really is no other place where you can meet more fertility clinics, organisations, and patient advocates, or watch a more extensive seminar programme with some of the top industry fertility experts in the world.

With that in mind, here is an early bird guide to some of the wonderful experts you may wish to hear speak and ask questions to in our three seminar rooms at this year’s Fertility Show.

1. An Introduction to Male and Female Infertility

This is, of course, where it all begins. The struggle to conceive can be daunting, and knowing what to do about it can often lead to a minefield. We are therefore delighted that Care Fertility will be taking the stage, and giving an overview of female fertility. They will tell us the problems women can face when it comes to fertility, and what to do about them. Plus the wonderful Professor Allan Pacey from The University of Sheffield (a professor of Andrology) will be talking us through male fertility, the issues men can face and how to tackle them.

2. Fertility Advice and How to Boost Fertility

This must be one of the most asked questions: how to boost fertility before and during fertility treatment? This year we are delighted that Professor of Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, Adam Balen, and Reproductive Biologist, Grace Dugdale, will be here to tell us how to improve fertility to increase the chances of getting pregnant.  Mr Tarek El-Toukhy is the clinical lead from Guy’s Hospital and will also be with us. He’ll be giving some great advice about fertility testing and what do to with a diagnosis, so you can begin fertility treatment with full and extensive knowledge of your fertility journey to date and a roadmap to building a family.

3. Male Fertility

Over the years, male fertility has really come into the spotlight. For years infertility has been deemed a “women’s problem”… not anymore! More and more people are waking up to the truth; that 50% of a couple’s fertility struggles are due to male fertility complications.

That’s why we are proud, not only of our great lineup of speakers who are rearing to advise on the fertility issues a man can face but that our seminar schedule boasts so many different subjects on male health and sperm. I am particularly looking forward to hearing Professor Suks Minhas (a consultant urologist and lead andrologist at Imperial College) give his expert advice on varicocele and azoospermia – two huge reasons for male infertility. Suks will tell us in-depth about both, give answers on how to deal with these conditions, plus take audience questions. This isn’t a talk to be missed!

4. Egg and Sperm Donation

If you get to a point in your fertility journey where donor conception becomes an option, we have a host of wonderful clinics, both in the UK and overseas, ready to help you. We also understand the sperm and egg donor route is an emotionally difficult process, so we are delighted The Donor Conception Network will be on hand to discuss what donor conception means both physically and psychologically. They will also take to the stage, to give a full introduction and overview of egg and sperm donation, to help you understand further what your future may look and feel like if you decide to choose an egg or a sperm donor for your fertility treatment.

Fertility Help Hub will be at The Fertility Show, too, so come and say ‘hi’!

5. Fertility in the Workplace

Finally, we are all delighted that the subject of fertility is now starting to hit workplace HR agendas. There are many fantastic initiatives, aiming to educate HR departments across the country on the impact that infertility can have on their colleagues. Then, in turn, help them to implement a policy that recognises this.

We are pleased to say that Fertility Network UK, the National Charity, will not only be on hand at this year’s Fertility Show, to offer guidance and support but will also host a session dedicated to discussing “Fertility in the Workplace” where they will offer advice and answer your important fertility questions.

Fertility Help

Above are just five of what is honestly one of the most extensive seminar programmes I’ve ever seen. The level of fertility expertise is incredible, I could go on forever, but I’ll leave it here for now. All that’s left to say is that I hope you will join us in what’s set to be a more inclusive, varied, warm, informative and wonderful weekend. Until next time…
