Crystals for fertility – our top 8

Moonstone

One of the more famous fertility stones, Moonstone is believed to have specific healing properties, as well as a reflective and calming energy.

Moonstone’s meaning is connected with new beginnings, and has been interwoven with the menstrual cycle for thousands of years. You may have heard of moon cycles, and the ancient pull these are said to have on female hormonal balance.

Calming moonstone is also said to be a powerful support for the digestive system, and a balm for emotions. We know digestion and emotional health have a proven impact on fertility, so moonstone may be a good fertility crystal to start off with.

Yellow jasper

This fertility stone is said to encourage proper functioning of the endocrine system and pancreas. More generally, jasper has been used for thousands of years to increase sexual energy.

The Ancient Egyptians favoured red jasper for blood circulation, increased energy and sexual vitality.

Turquoise

Some crystals are believed to help protect against environmental pollutants and other endocrine disruptors. These can be a contributing factor to infertility and are often found in everyday cleaning and beauty products, as well as the foods we consume and the environment we live in.

Turquoise is famed as a powerful antioxidant support, so worth considering as you build your fertility gemstone collection.

Smoky quartz

Starting off the quartzes, the smoky quartz variety is singled out as is a good beginner crystal. It’s said to balance sexual energy, and have a boosting effect on the reproductive organs.

Rose quartz

This is another popular beginner’s crystal. Rose quartz is famously the crystal of love, and is said to expel anger, nurturing and comforting all who come into contact with it.

Rose quartz and moonstone together are a popular combination, both  complementing the other’s calming and nourishing qualities. Try going for both in a crystal fertility bracelet for an added boost.

Clear quartz

This beginner’s crystal can target any area you choose, making it a great all-rounder to have on hand. It is an adaptable stone, and helps channel universal energies to offer healing properties.

Lapis lazuli

This little blue stone can help with meditation, and feelings of sadness and melancholy. We know how important it is, on our TTC journey, to prioritise the mind-body connection, and manage anxiety. Lapis lazuli is a popular fertility stone to have handy, for times when you need that extra support.

Jade

This beautiful stone is used for longevity, and preparing for long journeys. It may be a good starting point if you’re just embarking on your TTC and fertility journey, and looking to build your holistic toolkit.

Cleansing

Practitioners encourage us to cleanse our newly-purchased crystals, or if they’ve come into contact with someone else. This is said to ensure the crystal is cleared of all past energies, and that nothing is tampering with your own energy and connection.

Here are a few popular ways to cleanse your fertility stones:

  • leave them in front of a window under moonlight (don’t leave them in the sun as this may affect colour and is even a reported fire hazard)
  • set a jar of water under the moonlight and soak your crystals (do your research though, as some varieties disintegrate through contact with water)
  • place your crystal inside a sea-shell and use the smoke of a smudge or sage stick to cover it (practitioners advise doing this in an open area)

Crystals for fertility – does the shape matter?

The shape of a fertility crystal can be relevant to its believed healing abilities. For example, egg-shaped crystals can represent a fertilised and healthy embryo, and likewise a crystal carved into the shape of a pregnant woman is believed to encourage conception.

In the same way, a crystal chunk is typically rough to the touch and natural in shape. These are believed to cleanse our living environments and spaces. On the other hand, a cut crystal will look similar to the way stones typically appear in rings and other jewelry.

A cut stone has the ability to amplify its energy. And a stone that’s been carved into a wand shape (with either one or two pointed ends) can be used to target energy towards a certain person or object.

We hope this guide has given you a good starting point. The crystals we’ve mentioned have become associated with fertility over time, but it’s not guaranteed or proven that they’ll be able to help improve fertility.
