What a GP wants you to know about health and longevity in 2025 (& the clinic to book into for super personalised care)

Across everything from gut woes to hormone imbalance, more of us are looking for a full-body approach to health and longevity, rather than just copy-and-paste care that treats symptoms as they crop up. We sat down with a GP to find out what this shift in healthcare looks like for her – and what she wants you to know before stepping into a longevity clinic.

Here at TRB HQ, we’ve seen a recent and growing recognition that personalised, whole-person care is essential for long-term wellbeing.

Across everything from gut woes to hormone imbalance, more of us are looking for a full-body approach to health and longevity, rather than just copy-and-paste care that treats symptoms as they crop up.

According to Dr. Shivanthy Sivasothy, GP at The Ü Clinic, a health and longevity clinic with a focus on lifestyle medicine and locations across the South East, this shift is reshaping what healthcare can (and should) look like.

“Health optimisation is about a preventative and proactive approach,” she says. “Looking after your health isn’t just about treating or avoiding illness anymore. You can aim to live well, feel your best, and be your best self for longer.”

This mindset – and the tools to support it – are becoming more accessible, with devices that track sleep, stress, and key health markers offering us real-time feedback.

“There’s increasing evidence from research in these areas that support this should be the way we approach healthcare,” she says. “But the messages can be confusing, especially on social media. There’s so much information out there that it can be overwhelming – and that can prevent people from even starting to reconsider how they approach their health.”

With this in mind, we sat down with Dr. Sivasothy to find out what this shift in healthcare looks like for her – and what she wants you to know before stepping into a longevity clinic in 2025.

What do we mean by longevity, exactly?

“Longevity refers to the number of years a person lives in good health, free from chronic disease or disability,” Dr. Sivasothy explains. “Optimal health encompasses this through not just focusing on prevention of disease – which is a key marker for longevity – but also actively enhancing your physical, mental and metabolic health. The aim is to function at your best for your age and genetics.”

This means understanding how your body responds to different factors – from stress to diet to sleep – and building habits that support your personal goals.

Of all the longevity clinics London has to offer, what makes The Ü Clinic stand out?

Unlike some longevity clinics London patients may come across, where optimisation is tech-heavy or supplement-led, The Ü Clinic centres your individual journey, and goes wider than just looking at longevity itself.

“The Ü Clinic offers a human approach and a truly personalised service,” says Dr. Sivasothy.

“We are multidisciplinary, working as a team to give you the best tailored advice and support from multiple experts in their fields. A health optimisation check here involves setting goals, looking in depth at your current health status, and then working on a carefully crafted bespoke plan to achieve your goals in the years ahead,” she adds.

What kinds of health issues or longevity concerns do you see the most?

Because The Ü Clinic is fully multidisciplinary, people come with a wide range of needs – whether they’ve got a clear diagnosis or just a feeling that something’s off.

“At Ü Health, we have particular expertise in hormones,” says Dr. Sivasothy. “We’ve helped a lot of women in perimenopause and menopause. Our menopause service combines looking at hormone balance with optimising metabolic health. We also offer a bespoke weight management service.”

Patients also come for concerns such as:

  • hormonal balance (for women and men)
  • gut health
  • skin health
  • reversing bone disease

“There’s no one-size-fits-all,” she adds. “We support people wherever they are on their health journey.”

How does The Ü Clinic take a full body approach to these issues?

“Combining modern medicine and evidence-based therapies is essential for a whole-body, patient-centred approach to healthcare,” Dr. Sivasothy says. “The body is complex. A healthy body – a healthy being – incorporates different systems: the mind, the gut, hormones, and more. These are all interconnected, so you can’t affect one system without affecting the others.”

This is why the team at The Ü Clinic includes:

  • GPs
  • lifestyle medicine experts
  • nutritional therapists
  • and more

“Working with multiple disciplines who share the same mindset means our patients feel supported and heard.”

How does your team work together to co-create care plans?

This collaboration is key to what makes the Ü Clinic’s approach feel both high-quality and achievable.

“We’re regularly meeting to review our patient goals, their biomarkers and optimisation plan,” says Dr. Sivasothy. “We focus on key areas including medicine, nutrition, movement, sleep and stress management.”

Crucially, the plans are designed with the patient – not handed down like a prescription. “We work with our patients to create a plan that they feel is achievable and want to work on, rather than be prescribed something unrealistic.”

Finally, what are your 3 top tips for staying well and promoting longevity?

  1. Know your body – “I have a health check at least yearly to know my biomarkers and understand where I am on my journey to being my best self. I know what risks there are for me due to genetics and what areas, especially in my diet and with supplements, I should focus on to optimise my health.”
  2. Move! – “My muscles are one of the most metabolically active organs in the body, so I know I need to move them. Six out of seven days, I move, combining running, strength training and balance exercises.”
  3. Protect your sleep – “I aim to achieve between 7–8 hours of sleep a night. I don’t always manage it – but I’ve made big changes to protect it. I’ve even changed our household routine, including my two teenagers. We all keep our devices out of our bedrooms, use low lighting, and avoid blue light in the hour before sleep. As my teenage daughter approaches her exams and needs to work on an iPad late into the evening, we’ve invested in blue light-blocking glasses. Got to teach them young!”
